Implosion resistance means resistance to instantaneous explosive decompression (AED or RED)
The principle and occasion of implosion
In the environment of gas, gas mixture or liquid mixture, the rubber body is more or less infiltrated. When the rubber body is in contact with the above-mentioned medium under high pressure for a period of time, the medium will penetrate into it, forming a certain tiny space. Higher, the more gas infiltrates.
When the pressure around the rubber seal is suddenly removed, the compressed gas in the rubber body cannot be released fast enough, which leads to cracking and bubbling of the rubber body, and the seal loses its sealing performance. When the external pressure is removed, the damage will not appear immediately, and sometimes it will take several hours to appear.
Occasions where implosion occurs: implosion mostly occurs in high temperature and high pressure conditions during natural gas mining, and the system suddenly decompresses.
